A family is often structured differently today than it was in the past.<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>

The histo\u00adri\u00adcal defi\u00adni\u00adtion of family has been stron\u00adgly shaped by reli\u00adgion and social norms. As a central pillar and core of society, the family was expec\u00adted to conform to these norms. Roles were clearly defi\u00adned, as were respon\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties and duties. The concept of family was almost set in stone.<\/p>\n

Over time, many new and diffe\u00adrent family forms have emerged.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The posi\u00adtive aspect is this: even in tran\u00adsi\u00adtion, the family remains a funda\u00admen\u00adtal buil\u00adding block of every free society. Marriage has taken on many diffe\u00adrent social forms. Less posi\u00adtive, howe\u00adver, is how long these new family models had to fight for acceptance\u2014and in some cases still do.<\/p>\n

If the discus\u00adsion were focu\u00adsed solely on the well-being of the child, it would likely be conduc\u00adted very differ\u00adently. Instead, it often centers on a tradi\u00adtio\u00adnal, socia\u00adli\u00adzed, and lear\u00adned image of family that for a long time was not meant to deviate from past norms. This tradi\u00adtio\u00adnal image had\u2014and still has\u2014to be overcome.<\/p>\n

For child\u00adren, it is not important to fulfill social or reli\u00adgious norms, but to be loved for who they are. Patch\u00adwork fami\u00adlies, for exam\u00adple, are made up of seve\u00adral fami\u00adlies forming a new unit. Often, both part\u00adners bring child\u00adren from previous rela\u00adti\u00adonships, and even former part\u00adners can enrich this new family struc\u00adture. What was judged nega\u00adtively in the 1970s and 1980s is now part of the normal family land\u00adscape in a free society.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Conside\u00adring statis\u00adtics show\u00ading that, on average, every second rela\u00adti\u00adonship in cities and every third nati\u00adon\u00adwide ends in sepa\u00adra\u00adtion, loving paren\u00adthood would be diffi\u00adcult without the oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to form new family bonds such as patch\u00adwork families.<\/p>\n

Not to mention the fact that same-sex couples can, quite natu\u00adrally, also be parents in our free society. Confron\u00adta\u00adtion with outda\u00adted world\u00adviews was to be expec\u00adted, as were the resul\u00adting objec\u00adtions. But no one can stop the passage of time. Change happens regard\u00adless of appr\u00adoval. What once seemed unthinkable beco\u00admes normal\u2014and even that norma\u00adlity will even\u00adtually be reshaped by time.<\/p>\n

We do not judge these deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adments. Our role is to enable child\u00adren to receive the most loving and profes\u00adsio\u00adnal care possi\u00adble. The family constel\u00adla\u00adtion itself is not what matters\u2014what matters is the genuine effort to create a harmo\u00adnious envi\u00adron\u00adment. Ulti\u00adm\u00adately, it is about child\u00adren and their deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment. It is about provi\u00adding them, in a chan\u00adging society, with a family-like envi\u00adron\u00adment and the best possi\u00adble support.<\/p>\n

And as the saying goes: love comes without conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
