Reading to children is incredibly valuable.<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>

The deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of a flou\u00adris\u00adhing imagi\u00adna\u00adtion is equi\u00adva\u00adlent to the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of intel\u00adli\u00adgence and crea\u00adti\u00advity. A proven way to train these abili\u00adties is reading aloud. It inspi\u00adres, moti\u00adva\u00adtes, and constantly encou\u00adra\u00adges child\u00adren to create their own images of stories. It enga\u00adges their minds: What happened? What comes next?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

From distant lands. From other times. Of great dragons. Of dwarfs, wizards, and magi\u00adcal land\u00adscapes with cast\u00adles, palaces, and knights. From the smal\u00adlest unno\u00adti\u00adced detail to entire king\u00addoms. Disco\u00adve\u00adring emoti\u00adons in all their forms and diver\u00adsity. Lear\u00adning to under\u00adstand feelings. Not only does a special bond grow between young and old, parents and children\u2014reading aloud in all its facets unfolds magi\u00adcal crea\u00adtive powers within a child.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the child is encou\u00adra\u00adged to remem\u00adber parts of the story: charac\u00adters, places, sequen\u00adces, events, actions. It learns to follow the plot. What seems playful has a deeper meaning. And this works only through reading aloud and storytel\u00adling. Prac\u00adtice makes perfect here as well. Through constant repe\u00adti\u00adtion, the child conti\u00adnuously learns and accu\u00admu\u00adla\u00adtes know\u00adledge. In contrast, much of this is not only lost but dimi\u00adnis\u00adhes in the digi\u00adtal world of smart\u00adphones, tablets, and television\u2014because these skills are not being trained.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

And the worst part: without the reader, an important care\u00adgi\u00adver is lost. A ritual disap\u00adpears. A fami\u00adliar voice at bedtime falls silent. That is why we can only urge people to keep reading aloud alive and to inte\u00adgrate it conti\u00adnuously into daily routines\u2014constantly, consis\u00adt\u00adently, and creatively.<\/p>\n

Child\u00adren should learn to form their own picture of the world so that later they are able to follow their own path accor\u00adding to their own ideas. Reading aloud is also an essen\u00adtial prepa\u00adra\u00adtion for inde\u00adpen\u00addent reading. Child\u00adren who have been read to find it much easier to read on their own. Reading in any form should remain a funda\u00admen\u00adtal part of development\u2014just like move\u00adment, educa\u00adtion, and nutrition.<\/p>\n

One cannot place social and cultu\u00adral expec\u00adta\u00adti\u00adons on the next gene\u00adra\u00adtion without first provi\u00adding access to them. That is why we are such strong advo\u00adca\u00adtes of reading aloud\u2014because you can never have enough good and better people.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
